Is it time for savasana yet?
One of my best friends in interning at this fantastic yoga studio. I wish I had way more free time to go to class regularly. As it is, I go whenever I can, which isn't that often. There is a great class at 10:30 on Saturdays but today, my boss scheduled me to work at 10. Blah.
I can also go to the local YMCA on my mother's membership card. The biggest problem with those is that I find the teachers very, very hit and miss. I once sat in a class for 45 minutes while the teacher had us breath through one nostril and plug the other. It really felt like a waste of my time.
I even tried Bikram Yoga a few times. That got really boring really fast. The same poses every single time! I started to really miss Downward Facing Dog pose. On top of that, I can't really handle just being told what to do by an instructor who doesn't actually do the poses with the class. I did, however, really enjoy the heat.
If you haven't tried yoga, I seriously recommend it. A lot of new comers get frustrated because they can't do the pose as well as some. But 1) it isn't a competition and 2) with time and practice, most people will be able to do the whole pose. Also, a good level 1 class will be full of people who are struggling along. Yoga is totally worth it. Plus the best yogis I know are my dog and cat. They make it look so easy.
And just think, how many form of exercise have laying there on your back for 5 minutes as a serious part of the class?
